My name is Monika and I am the Cluster Yield
Manager for the three properties in Vienna. I
do all the pricing forecasting and monitoring
the availability for the three hotels we have. Everything
that has to do with money coming in, that’s
us.
The best attribute of being an Elevator is the
enormous support you have. You are given
a mentor, this is an objective person who can
just support you. You have a dedicated person
from head office who calls you on a regular basis
asking how you're getting on, are people treating
you well, are you getting what you need to get
out of the programme.
In my case I’ve done six countries with
this company now so it’s a lot of fun. You
get to see a lot of things. Hilton Worldwide are extremely
good at training programmes. You get to
experience so many different situations and circumstances
because you're going through so many different
departments. The hotel is like a puzzle. Every
piece needs to fit together and the broader understanding
you have the better you do your own job.
You do get to know the ins and outs of a hotel
very quickly but also you get to run across a
lot of challenges and you get to see a lot of
different things but it’s really different
for every person I would say. It really –
it’s up to you how much you get out of
it. During your eighteen months as an Elevator
you get to meet and have access to so many senior
people and you're running across a vice president
who says "oh hi Monica how are you?" - this
is fantastic because it will eventually help
you later on.
Hilton Worldwide is very proactive at giving Elevators
enormous amount of responsibility very early
on. It’s the constant way of being
able to be given new jobs and challenges without
going looking for them, so that I think has a
lot to do with the elevator programme setting
the scene.
